Mansfield Town reserves were again condemned to defeat last night after letting a 1-0 lead slip to go down 2-1 at North Ferriby United against Hull City reserves.
Matt Rhead had put Richard Cooper’s men ahead on 21 minutes with a bullet header following Ben Hutchinson’s deep set play however it was the hosts who ultimately hit back to take the points, Nick Proschwitz’s 25 yard effort levelled the match shortly after half time before James Armstrong capitalised on a cross on 69 minutes to put the hosts in the driving seat after Stags had squandered numerous chances.
The Stags management were casting their eye over former Mortherwell and Coventry midfielder Steve Jennings throughout the match, although his game time was cut short late on when he was shown a red card.
Richard Coopers men had won their opening four matches to top the table however after two straight defeats, their grasp on the top has now slipped away – Cooper’s men are next in action in early November when they welcome Doncaster Rovers to the One Call Stadium.
