Craig Priest writes…
First half goals from Connor Green and Joe Flint were enough to see off a more experienced Ollerton Town side last night in a pre-season friendly. Paul Cox watched on as Adam Murray & Richard Cooper’s young guns survived a few early scares as their more experienced counterparts launched numerous central attacks, calling keeper Jordan Fell into action. The deadlock was broken by new addition Connor Green on 21 minutes as the young midfielder embarked on a central solo run from the half way line, driving in a left footed effort from 25 yards. Green was involved with the Stags second moments later as he clipped in a neat free kick from the right hand side, which Joe Flint nodded in from close range. Ollerton grabbed one back on the half hour mark through Sam Bailey who latched onto a flick on to slot beneath the Stag keeper, who we believe to have been Jordan Fell in the first half – however without a team sheet, we we’re working on guessing faces and names shouted by players! The second half provided little thrills for those watching and Stags, who made several changes through the second half to introduce the new intake, held on and survived a handful of Ollerton chances to win the match 2-1.
